Applications I Installed for Ubuntu 11.10

Here are some cool apps I Installed and need to see Ubuntu as an alternative to Windows

1. Audacious

Audacious is a simple,easy and popular software used for playing music in Ubuntu.One of my Favorite. When an appropriate theme is choose from the  preferences option it just look like and more over function just like Winamp in Windows.Other alternatives for Audacious from my side is Clementine or Amarok (may be a little sophisticated ) but Audacious work great.

                                sudo apt-get install audacious

      2. Google Chrome

It is now a popular software in both Ubuntu and Windows and even though FireFox has a whole new range of change in its core Google Chrome is the best Web Browser . The new features, a lot of plugins and extensions and other features make Chrome the best browser/

       3. VLC :- Video Player

Try Running a Video opening the VLC in your computer to see a part of video in the above png

VLC is used by all users in Ubuntu and also Windows.It is pre-installed in Ubuntu. It can be also called as All In One Player. A lot of free plugins are available to add more functionality and features.
It is also available in the Ubuntu Software Center or you can run the following command

                                sudo apt-get install vlc

    4. FileZilla : Best FTP Client

FTP(File Transfer Protocol client is a simplr GUI application that allow the user to upload or download and manage remote files hosted in your web server.It is a very useful and an easy to use interface with a code editor like gedit. FileZilla is cross-platform application. It also supports file transfer in secure mode i.e SFTP

     5.  GIMP:Best Image Editor

Most of them should know what GIMP is. Yes an alternative and an open source project which enables you to open up your talents in editing photographs.Although it doesn't have much cool brush effects installed by default a lot more plugins are available in net.Just a search in google could help you with installing it.
